A couple of days went by, which turned into weeks.. Luckily, it didn't turn into months.. That would have been quite the heart-breaker. Jon was sadly still in a coma, and there was nothing much that could be done to fix that.
There was a possibility that there was a lot of damage done, but the doctors knew just what to do to make sure that didn't happen. They also raced against the clock in order to fix his injuries. He had suffered a couple broken bones, cracked ribs, and a dislocated disc in his spine. There was possibly more damage than that but that's what they had found at the time. But, that didn't mean that they would give up before seeking out every single issue and fixing it.
It had to be done.

Carson quietly tip toed her way into Jon's room and shut the door behind her as quietly as possible. It was the second time she had come to the hospital to see him. The first time, after the Blake incident, he still wasn't allowed to have any outside visitors. She didn't see why not, it wasn't like he was awake anyhow. He was still laying quietly in his bed with his eyes closed. Carson approached his beside slowly. The various machines had an array of colorful lights flashing on them and the only sound that was heard was the soft beeping of his heart monitor and their breathing. His was steady as if he were sleeping. Carson sniffled quietly as she placed her small hand on top his. She had to remind herself that the doctors said he was improving and that at any moment he could wake up but she couldn't help but think about the worst. What if he never did wake up? What if Blake had killed him? Nobody wanted that to be the conclusion to this situation. Jon had a full life ahead of him. Up until this incident she didn't know how hectic and unfair life could be. She was only a silly high school student who had no concept of how harsh reality was. She had thought she knew it all, like any other teenager. Up until this point life had been fairly easy for her besides the teasing at school but she hardly considered that harsh. Not like rape or death or anything else that had happened lately. It put a lot into perspective for her. She was just a kid and still learning the ropes of life.
"You'll wake up. You'll wake up soon and I have so much to tell you." She whispered softly as she kissed his forehead. Carson had always had a crush on him. His name and face had been familiarity since elementary school when they used to chase each other on the playground but something changed. They grew apart into different crowds and when high school rolled around she didn't know who he was any longer. He was a complete stranger and he treated her as if she was one. "I don't know what's going on anymore. Everything is messed up, Jon. The world is so fucked up. Please.. just.. wake up." She took a moment to wipe the tears off her face. She didn't know if she was ever going to get another chance to do what she was about to do. Carson leaned down and kissed him softly on the lips. She lingered above him for a few seconds and ran her hand across his cheek before she turned to leave.

Wow, if love could really jump-start someone's heart this would be the time. Jon's eyes fluttered open as soon as Carson kissed him. It was as if that was what he needed all along to revive himself.
"Carson?" he managed to choke out, after all it's been awhile since the last time he talked.. Better yet, since the last time he was "alive" and moving. He tried again, "Carson...?" hoping that she heard him the first time, but he just wanted to make sure she did hear him.
Oh how he was longing for her to just kiss him, and now that she finally did.. He felt complete. He knew that there was a reason why God kept him around this long, but he wasn't 100% sure what the reason was exactly until now. The reason was to be with her, keep her safe, and let her know that she was loved. Yes, that's exactly the reason. And he wasn't about to let God and himself down, he wanted to, no scratch that, he needed to make her happy.

It was crazy how one small word could change everything. Carson had been praying for weeks that Jonathan would recover and quickly but that had all been in vain. It seemed as if he would never wake again. That is until he said her name. No.. there was no way. She had to be hallucinating because there was no way that Jon could have spoken. He was stuck in a vicious coma but she slowly turned around to face him anyways. She wanted to make sure she wasn't going crazy. She supposed that it shouldn't come as a surprise if she was crazy considering everything that had happened over the past couple of weeks. It would certainly make some sense she supposed. What didn't make sense was the fact that there Jonathan was, awake and very much alive. Carson didn't know how to react. She was stunned for a few moments. It was like her body didn't know exactly what it wanted to do. Part of her wanted to cry out of relief and happiness, another part of her wanted to scream and lastly, she wanted to hug him. Never again would she take him for granted. At any given time he could be taken away from her and that she couldn't deal with. Especially not now.
She cherished the moment he spoke her name again. It sent a wave of chills down her spine. Carson adored the way he said her name. In so many of her day dreams she imagined him saying her name and although this was quite an extreme case he was still saying it nonetheless. Carson walked back over to him and leaned against the bed and she clasped his hand. "I can't believe you're awake. Everyone has been waiting. I really hope this isn't some kind of sick joke god is playing on me. I don't want this to be a dream." Her voice was soft and quiet as she spoke. "You've been in a coma. Blake knocked you into one at a football game. I know you might not remember right now so don't wig out, okay? I'm here. Everyone has been so worried about you Jon. I've been worried about you. I was afraid you'd never recover. I wasn't sure how much longer I could take seeing you like that." Carson knew that she couldn't stop herself from being emotional and didn't even try to hold back her tears. "That never should have happened to you. I'm so sorry."
She certainly was not going to go into the gory details about how the doctors told everyone he wouldn't be allowed to play football again. Blake had ruined not only his future but her self esteem. He ruined everyone because he was a terrible fucking person. Besides, it wouldn't be fair to overwhelm him as soon as he was alert. Jon certainly did not need that kind of stress at the moment. That's why she had been debating on telling him about Blake and there was certainly no way she could ever tell him she slept with their drama teacher. She already felt disgusting enough as it was, she didn't need someone she really cared about thinking she was disgusting too.

Wait. Jon paused. Something didn't seem right about this. A coma? That word resounded in his head over and over again. He bit his bottom lip, and began pulling at the IVs and everything else that he was hooked up to.
He felt like this wasn't real, in fact, it couldn't be real. Surely, this was just some crazy, sick joke that people were playing on him. Right? He was dazed, and confused as hell. He looked around the room, yes, it did look like a hospital room. But, why was she here with him?
After all, it seemed like just yesterday he had called her an art geek. Of course, that's what she was. But oh, oh how she was way more than that to him. She was his everything, his one and only. The only person that he had every intention of marrying someday, and starting a life with.
But, another thing that was bothering him was the fact that he couldn't help but to feel like someone was missing. Oh! Yeah, Connor. Her friend, the one who seemed to be extra chummy with Carson. He bit his bottom lip once more, honestly a lot more confused than before.
"Carson..? A coma?" he asked weakly, scared to test his voice more than he had to. He slowly calmed down as soon as one of the attending nurses came in, and made sure that he didn't do any damage to himself by messing with the IVs and the like. Of course, he figured that they had to run more tests on him to see if everything was alright but he didn't want them to take his Carson, yes that's right... His Carson away from him just so they could run tests.
He felt as if they'd be ruining a moment for them, and that was the truth. They would be ruining a very good moment for Carson and Jon. And Jon didn't like that at all, not one bit. He frowned slightly as they started to rush her out of the room so he cleared his throat, getting their attention. "Please.. Can I just talk to her, alone? Without any interruptions, I mean." he stated with a sharp tone to his voice, but not that loud quite yet.

"Yeah, a coma." She responded with a sniffle. Carson didn't want to overwhelm him but everything she had said before had kind of tumbled right out of her mouth. He was acting as if he had no memory of the event and he probably didn't, or at least he didn't as of right now. Head injuries were tricky and sometimes you kept your memory and sometimes you didn't. Carson wiped her face with her sleeve. As of lately all she could manage to do was cry. She knew as soon as the nurse stepped into the room she would be asked to leave. When coma patients wake up out of their slumber, doctors usually want to rush them off for tests. He needed more scans and his doctor would probably be notified that he was awake. The last thing Carson wanted to do was leave, though. She wanted to stay and talk to him but she knew he was weak and most likely wouldn't understand what she had to tell him. As the nurse ushered her out she overheard Jon say something but didn't quite catch it. The nurse must have heard him because she let go of Carson's arm and gave Jon a look and walked over to his bed. She checked all his vitals once more before she said "Alright. If she's that important to you I'll leave you two be for now but I have to give your doctor a call. He needs to be notified you're awake, and keep the conversation stress free. We don't need any upset patients, okay? I'll be back in twenty minutes sweetie." She patted Jonathan's arm and walked out of the room.
Carson sighed in relief. She rubbed her arm awkwardly and walked back over to the side of his bed. "I know you don't understand why you're here. Some bad things have happened over the past week." Bad was an understatement but getting into details now would be messy and she really didn't want to get into trouble if Jon's heart rate dramatically shot up because she managed to tell him what happened and he got pissed. She knew as soon as the fog of the coma lifted and he could understand what she was saying, he would be beyond pissed. "I was so scared." Carson could feel her eyes start to moisten again. "I'm just glad you're awake now."

Jon was finally managing to make sense of everything, he patted the bed beside him. "Come sit..." he trailed off, taken aback by his voice at first. He hadn't heard himself speak in ages so, it was natural. "Why am I here...?" he questioned, biting his bottom lip.
He still felt like it was a sick joke somehow, but he was beginning to realize that it wasn't. Sighing slightly as he tried to sit up again, groaning a tad because of the pain. "I feel like hell..." trailing off, he just wished he'd find something to say to her to make her stay with him forever. "Carson.. Don't leave me, please..?" he was practically pleading. "I think.. I'm an idiot for not telling you sooner about my feelings for you..." his cheeks took on a reddish hue, and he decided it was best if he rested his voice for now.
He was just so happy to have her here with him, regardless of the circumstances.
